This is in reply to your letter of August 9, 1989 with respect to a remission request for 

               19(1)

I confirm that I would be prepared to support Revenue Canada's sponsoring of this remission order on the basis of financial hardship. In this regard, I can also confirm that we are not proposing to recommend a change in the law to permit deductions of the nature claimed by 19(1).
