Request for Remission of Tax 24(1)

We are enclosing a copy of a letter dated December 4, 1989 addressed to the Minister of Justice in which the above-mentioned shareholders request a remission of tax and interest under the Financial Administration Act.

In order for the Remission Committee to consider this matter, would you please submit to this Division a report containing the information required under TOM 2263.24(2)(A) to (G). In the preparation of the report, please focus on the nature and extent of extreme hardship (TOM 2263.22(2)(A)) or financial setback (TOM 2263.22(2)(C)) which would be suffered by the shareholders should remission be denied.

In particular, could you please provide us with details of the 1976 and 1977 reassessments together with any other information or pertinent correspondence which may assist us in our review. Would you also provide your recommendation as to whether remission should be favourably considered.

We look forward to receiving your report and recommendation in this matter.
