Re: 24(1) Sovereign Immunity

We are writing in reply to your letter dated March 23, 1990, in
which you enclosed documents in support of your application for
sovereign immunity for   24(1)  We are pleased to advise you that
we are prepared to grant exemption to this 24(1) on the basis of
sovereign immunity.  You may provide photostatic copies of this
letter to paying or disbursing agents as their authority to make
payments of interest to the    24(1)                without
withholding Part XIII tax.

This exemption is subject to the conditions contained in paragraph 47 of Information Circular 77-16R3 (copy attached). We are of the understanding that the 24(1) will provide Revenue Canada, Taxation with an annual list of Canadian investments to which this exemption applies.
