Dear 19(1)
This is to request your concurrence in granting an extension of the sixty-month period of detachment under Article V(2)(a) of the Canada-United States Social Security Agreement in the following case:
CANADIAN EMPLOYER:
19(1)
EMPLOYEE:
The initial period covered by the certificate will conclude on December 31, 1989. The employer is in the midst of plans to return 19(1) to Canada, but they have experienced some delays in getting his replacement in place prior to the expiration of the current certificate. The employer has asked for an additional six month extension ending June 30, 1990. We were advised by the 24(1) that they anticipate having 19(1) back in Canada in advance of the June date.
As the extension request is reasonable under the circumstances we are prepared to extend coverage under the Canada Pension Plan through this additional six month period. We trust you will give this request favourable consideration.
An early reply to this request would be appreciated.
Yours sincerely,
