Thank you for your memorandum of August 11, 1989 concerning a request for tax remission by the above-captioned taxpayer.
The Remission Committee has reviewed the circumstances of the taxpayer's case and has concluded that it does not meet the criteria for recommending a remission.
We agree that this is a case for normal collection action by the District Office and hopefully a mutually acceptable payment schedule based on the taxpayer's ability to pay can be arranged. Accordingly, could you please prepare a reply to the taxpayer conveying the decision of the Remission Committee and the Department's willingness to assist her in clearing up her tax arrears.
Since 19(1) sent a copy of her letter to our Minister, would you kindly let us have a copy of your reply to complete the Minister's file.
We return the taxpayer's T1 returns for 1987 and 1988 and enclose for your information a copy of the taxpayer's letter and Minutes of the meeting of the Remission Committee.
