Re:  Annuity Purchased from Charitable Organization

This is in reply to your letter of October 26, 1989, which has been referred to this office for reply.  Further to paragraph 5 of Interpretation Bulletin IT-111R, we understand that you require the appropriate life expectancy figure to use in the case of a joint life annuity payable on a last survivor basis with a guaranteed term of 15 years where the annuitants are a husband aged 82 and a wife aged 84.

We advise that the life expectancy figure in the above case would be 15.7 years.
