19(1)
I am writing in response to your letter of March 20, 1990, to which you attached a copy of the correspondence received from your constituent 19(1) asking for reconsideration of the remission of tax requested by his client, 19(1)
24(1) In his letter 19(1) indicated that his client is conversant with the pertinent tax provisions and their effects. 19(1) requested remission of the 24(1) in view of the unintended and adverse consequences.
While I fully sympathize with 19(1) situation, I regret to inform you that administrative relief cannot be granted. 19(1) case does not meet departmental guidelines. As the adverse effects of the law in situations such as 19(1) relate to tax policy, I have forwarded a copy of your letter to the Honourable Michael Wilson, Minister of Finance, so that he may be made aware of your concerns.
I regret the unfavourable consequences which have resulted from this investment and I trust my comments will explain the Department's position.
Your sincerely,
Otto Jelinek
c.c. The Honourable Michael Wilson, P.C., M.P., Minister of Finance
