Re:  RRSP Incentives

We are writing in reply to your letter of June 14, 1991, in which you express concern about incentives offered by financial institutions to attract RRSP depositors.

In your view such incentives confuse consumers and increase the administrative costs for financial institutions who transfer RRSP's to other institutions who are offering special incentives for new RRSP customers.

We appreciate your concerns and thank you for bringing them to our attention. They will be given due consideration in future reviews concerning this topic.
