Ontario Ministry of Revenue Exchange of Information Agreement
This is further to your memorandum dated December 27, 1989, concerning the requesting of information directly from various Ontario Ministries and the circumstances and procedures for obtaining such data as described in the attachments thereto.
We have reviewed your memorandum of December 6, 1989, addressed to the Ontario Region district offices which reflects the position taken by 19(1) of the Ministry of Revenue in his letter to this Division dated July 5, 1988, on information requests. The decision to follow the Ministry of Revenue's direction and write to the Ministry responsible rather than to a central contact point in the province, is acceptable. In addition, the decision to have the district offices action all of their own requests with the exception of information within the Ministry of Revenue and in the case of jeopardy assessments is also acceptable.
In conclusion, we wee no obvious difficulties with their instructions for requesting information from the province as issued. We note from your memorandum that should problems be encountered with this procedure, these are to be brought to your attention. We ask that this Division also be advised of any difficulties.
