I am writing in response to representation made on February 14, 1990, by your accountant 19(1) requesting an extension of time pursuant to subsection 220(3) of the Income Tax Act for 24(1)
While the provisions of subsection 220(3) do not apply in this instance, departmental officials were asked to consider whether your case qualifies under the remission process in the Financial Administration Act. I apologize for the length of time taken to complete the review that is necessary with such matters.
Your case has been thoroughly reviewed and compared with the guidelines for recommending remissions. While I sympathize 24(1)
I would like to thank you for the opportunity to consider your case and, while the remission that you requested cannot be granted, I trust that the foregoing comments explain the policy that applies in these circumstances.
